How to Know if You’re Proud

We tend to think that we encounter pride only in boastful words, arrogant actions, or contempt for others, but these are not its only expressions. There are far more common expressions that we tend to miss. Pride, theologian Cornelius Plantinga says, “is a blend of self-absorption–that is, narcissism–with an overestimate of one’s abilities or worth–that is, conceit. So a proud person thinks a lot about herself and also thinks a lot of herself.”
