The New York Time’s Ben Yagoda reviews a provoking new book, The Tyranny of E-mail: The Four- Thousand-Year Journey to Your Inbox. I’ve reserved it from my local library and look forward to reading it.
Writing from firsthand experience, too many times I’ve both perpetrated, as well as been the victim, of the tyranny of e-mail (e.g. checking my inbox immediately before I go to sleep and first thing when I wake, reflexively checking it for no reason at all, etc.). Freeman’s new book purportedly provides helpful advice to curb these addictive tendencies, ensuring e-mail is not our lord and master but rather our servant.
